Castle Green Midsummer Fayre - Saturday 24 June

This year's Castle Green Midsummer Fayre looks set to be the biggest event yet staged by the Friends of Castle Green due to the very generous grant from the Park It! programme run by GreenSpace.

"We wanted to bring the history of Castle Green alive, so we applied for the money to set up a medieval village with costumed craft demonstrators
throughout the day. There will be fletching, patten making, basket-making, milling, large wheel spinning, herbalism, bow-making and men-at-arms all on the Castle Green for the first time in over 500 years!" said Mark Hubbard, Chair of the Friends.

"We have been overwhelmed by the number of people who come to our events, so this year we thought we would pull out all the stops to make the day a really exciting one for all the family. Music Pool, our local community music project, are helping with the music, Where Wild Things Play (Herefordshire Nature Trust) will run family activities, we are going to have a big craft and local produce market and Widemarsh Workshop will be running a cafe. A real community response!"

Other attractions include a free performance of Jack & the Beanstalk by Sealegs Theatre Co, free face painting, a bar serving local beer & cider and all manner of crafts & local food producers. Why not bring deckchairs or picnic rugs and plan to spend the whole day on the Green!

Put Saturday 24 June in your diary and show the City that we have a park worth celebrating!

Anyone wishing to book a stall please contact Rebecca Saunders on 01432 272605, but please hurry as they are selling fast!
